A guilt-free and fun show to watch is the new GCB, short for Good Christian Belles, on ABC. I’m a big Kristin Chenoweth fan, so I’ll watch anything she stars in. GCB is set in Dallas and the sets are decorated beautifully and spot on for Texas.

If you haven’t seen it yet, Leslie Bibb stars as a former mean girl named Amanda who returns home to Dallas after fleeing to Southern California many years ago. She comes into contact with her high school classmates, led by Carlene (Kristin Chenoweth), who have become Bible thumping mean girls. Annie Potts, who starred in one of my favorite shows– Designing Women, plays Amanda’s hilarious high-society mother Gigi.

Gigi’s house entry is grand and lavish, staying true to the Dallas philosophy, but is very formal and elegant without any tackiness. The custom-designed wallpaper goes very well with the gold shades in the room, and you have to love the over-the-top portrait of Gigi hanging over the staircase.

It wouldn’t be Texas without a gun room, and the guns and antlers are fancily put on display in Gigi’s house.

Kristin Chenoweth kills it in her role as Carlene and her house is nonetheless stunning. The Asian accents and splashes of color in her living room still retain formality and it all looks so sophisticated and well-done.

I love the dark purple color(above) of Carelene’s bedroom. It looks like a calm sanctuary and peaceful place to relax.

Sharon, played by Jennifer Aspen, is a housewife who happens to be one heck of a cook on the show. The set designers had to give her the works– a grand kitchen that has sleek white cabinets and white marble countertops. Not to mention a deep fryer and one huge range! And if you watch the show, there is a restaurant-style walk in refrigerator, too!

Cricket (Miriam Shor) is a high-profile CEO of a company also run by her closeted husband, Blake. Cricket appears to not have the warmest personality on the show, which could explain why her office is a bit antiseptic.

Cricket’s bedroom is decorated in a midcentury Western style and consists of a huge bed allowing for distance between Cricket and her gay husband. The show does an excellent job of portraying their marriage as a special friendship in which they both accept each other for who they are and keep their marriage afloat for appearances.

The Church plays an integral role in the show and bears much resemblance to many of the churches in Dallas. It has an indescribable modern yet antiquated look– taking into account the pews, colums, and stain-glass windows.
