Shereè Whitfield’s Former House On the Market

Some interesting real estate information for all you Real Housewives fans out there — the former Atlanta home of  recently fired housewife, Sheree Whitfield, is back on the market!

Sheree sold, or ended her lease (not sure which), on the house last year and moved into an apartment while building here dream home. All of the decorating in the photos below was supposedly done by Miss Sheree herself.

The house is located in the affluent area of Sandy Springs outside of Atlanta at an asking price of $900,000. If you remember, Sheree was still building her “Chateau” this past season on the show. No word on the completion of the project as of yet…

What do you think of Sheree’s old home. Should she have kept it?

Design Delivers in ‘GCB’

A guilt-free and fun show to watch is the new GCB, short for Good Christian Belles, on ABC. I’m a big Kristin Chenoweth fan, so I’ll watch anything she stars in. GCB is set in Dallas and the sets are decorated beautifully and spot on for Texas.

If you haven’t seen it yet, Leslie Bibb stars as a former mean girl named Amanda who returns home to Dallas after fleeing to Southern California many years ago. She comes into contact with her high school classmates, led by Carlene (Kristin Chenoweth), who have become Bible thumping mean girls. Annie Potts, who starred in one of my favorite shows– Designing Women, plays Amanda’s hilarious high-society mother Gigi.

Gigi’s house entry is grand and lavish, staying true to the Dallas philosophy, but is very formal and elegant without any tackiness. The custom-designed wallpaper goes very well with the gold shades in the room, and you have to love the over-the-top portrait of Gigi hanging over the staircase.

It wouldn’t be Texas without a gun room, and the guns and antlers are fancily put on display in Gigi’s house.

Kristin Chenoweth kills it in her role as Carlene and her house is nonetheless stunning. The Asian accents and splashes of color in her living room still retain formality and it all looks so sophisticated and well-done.

I love the dark purple color(above) of Carelene’s bedroom. It looks like a calm sanctuary and peaceful place to relax.

Sharon, played by Jennifer Aspen, is a housewife who happens to be one heck of a cook on the show. The set designers had to give her the works– a grand kitchen that has sleek white cabinets and white marble countertops. Not to mention a deep fryer and one huge range! And if you watch the show, there is a restaurant-style walk in refrigerator, too!

Cricket (Miriam Shor) is a high-profile CEO of a company also run by her closeted husband, Blake. Cricket appears to not have the warmest personality on the show, which could explain why her office is a bit antiseptic.

Cricket’s bedroom is decorated in a midcentury Western style and consists of a huge bed allowing for distance between Cricket and her gay husband. The show does an excellent job of portraying their marriage as a special friendship in which they both accept each other for who they are and keep their marriage afloat for appearances.

The Church plays an integral role in the show and bears much resemblance to many of the churches in Dallas. It has an indescribable modern yet antiquated look– taking into account the pews, colums, and stain-glass windows.

Newsletter February 2012

Hope February is treating everyone exceptionally well with some good weather, too. It’s been extremely hectic for me after flying back & forth from New Orleans to New York, but I received some good, okay, AMAZING news as my boyfriend proposed to me! I am the happiest I’ve ever been, and of course so excited that I am now officially engaged. The wedding won’t be for a while, but you can bet that this event planner & interior designer will be blogging about it up until the big day!

In other news, I found this to-die for kitchen and have been obsessing over its design. I showed the photos to a client who now tells me they want the exact kitchen– a carbon copy! I’m working on finding every single thing in the kitchen now. I’m already working with other design bloggers who have been so helpful in tracking these pieces down, but there’s still a long way to go. If anyone recognizes where something comes from or needs a closer look at the kitchen, please shoot me a comment or an email!

Isn’t this bedroom above just fabulous? It is a client of mine’s inspiration for her new bedroom. She is a very sweet teenage girl and I have the  privilege of redecorating her bedroom based off of the decor above. Stay tuned for the big reveal photos!

I want to thank all of my readers, and you all will be very happy to know that there will be no business trips in my future til May which means I am back to blogging full time. Look out!

There is still time to submit your design questions to me for my advice column. All the information is right here.

Have a fabulous end of February!

XoXo,

Kelly Logan Taylor

The Dunphy House in “Modern Family”

My absolute favorite show on television right now is Modern Family on ABC. The cast is super talented and the writers are so brilliant as they keep you laughing out loud week after week. Also, the sets are wonderfully designed which only makes for a great addition to one fabulous show.

My favorite home on the show would have to be Claire and Phil Dunphy’s, because it has such a cozy look and represents the typical chaotic family. Here is a look at the Dunphy home…

The formal living room is very casually designed with cozy pillows and hardly anything breakable in sight. It is actually very realistic for a family living with small children to decorate informally. Since I am a lover of anything soft blue, the Benjamin Moore Labrador Blue could easily fit in my home.

Since the moment it was shown on television, I loved the artwork above the fireplace in the Dunphy home. After I did some research, I found out it was done by a member of the show’s production team!

The furniture in the living room is without a doubt very catalogue. The production designer calls it “a mix of Pottery Barn and Restoration Hardware.” I can spot a few pieces that I know are from Crate & Barrel, the coffee table for sure.

I would definitely describe the entire living room area as shabby chic, which is great for a family home because the excess clutter doesn’t stand out or look as messy in the stylish environment.

The kitchen is, as it would be in any American home, the heart of the house. Those cabinets are a tan color called “Timothy Straw” by Benjamin Moore again. The table is modeled after a farmhouse style and has a distressed, rustic finish to it.

The chairs have changed in the show from season to season. I personally like these gray padded ones (without a doubt from Restoration Hardware), but they both flow well. I also really love the abundance of colors, from the plates to the murals to the rug. The pomegranate painting on the kitchen wall is done by a very talented artist named Amy Runyen.

I hope you enjoyed getting a look at the Dunphy house interior, and be sure to catch Modern Family on Wednesdays 9/8c on ABC.
